Hi guys and girls, I want to make Sylvan's tablesaw jig for cutting braces, but need a source for threaded wooden bolts so that I can make the stop and fastener. Anyone made this jig, or know where I can find such a bolt or way to make one?\ Larry |

the wood working houses sell the taps and dies to thread the bolt and tap the holes. |

Larry, I made the jig. Works great! I've got one of those bolt tap/die sets. Nothing to write home about but it does the job. I think Harbor Freight has them. If you can't find one anywhere, I can probably bang one out for you if you aren't in a hurry. |

Hey Paul, Thanks! I checked HF and the set is $20...I'll use the thing once and throw it in a drawer for eternity...I'd rather pay you for 2 of them and be done with it if the offer's still good...I won't be making braces for a little bit anyway...I've got laquer curing on 7 right now, and the next build will be the end of June....email off line if you want, or just post here...I've nothing to hide!

You certainly do not have to make wooden threaded bolts to make the jig. That was just my solution to holding the wood while cutting it and without marking the wood up with a metal clamp. However you can hold it will work! |

I just wanted to avoid the mark from the DeStaco clamp...I like them for certain things, but it'd be a pain to make the braces oversized and clean them up after they're radiused...plus I mean, threaded wooden bolts...how cool is that?!
